Terms of Service.
What Rillo does, how it makes money, and the terms for using it.
1. Who we are
Rillo is a booking and payment service provided by Transvo. Businesses that take bookings, such as salons, barbers, braiders, nail techs and spas, use it to take bookings online and to collect a deposit or the full price when a customer books.
In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Transvo. A "business" is a business that uses Rillo to take bookings, and a "customer" is a person who books and pays a business through Rillo. These terms apply to both. What happens to a customer’s payment when plans change is also set out on its own, in our Refund Policy at userillo.com/legal/refunds.
Our contact details are in section 14.
2. What Rillo does
Each business has its own booking page. A customer chooses what they want and when, then pays a deposit or the full price, in one payment, by mobile money or card. The booking is confirmed when the payment succeeds, and the business and the customer are both sent a confirmation.
The business sets its own prices, deposits and hours, and provides what was booked. Any balance left after a deposit is paid to the business in person and does not pass through Rillo.
We provide the software. We do not provide the appointments, tables, rooms or anything else a business sells, and we are not a party to the agreement between a business and its customer.
Prices and payments on Rillo are in GHS.
We may add, change or remove features. Where a change materially reduces what the service does, we will tell businesses before it takes effect.
3. Our fees, and how we make money
There is no subscription, no setup fee and no monthly charge, and we keep no card on file. Nothing renews.
A business’s first 20 bookings carry no fee from us.
After that, we earn a platform fee: a percentage of each payment a customer makes online through Rillo. It is taken at source. When the customer pays, Paystack splits the payment, passes our fee to us and settles the rest to the business. We tell each business the rate in writing before it first applies.
Customers pay the price the business sets. Rillo adds nothing to it.
Paystack charges its own processing fee on each online payment, under its own pricing. Paystack deducts it from the business’s share, as with any card or mobile money payment.
Cash and other payments a business takes itself never pass through Rillo and carry no fee.
We may change the fee, or the number of bookings that carry none. We will give at least 30 days notice before a change applies, and a business may close its account before it takes effect.
4. How payments are taken and settled
Online payments are processed by Paystack. The customer pays on Paystack’s secure checkout, and we never see or store card numbers or mobile money PINs.
Each business is set up with its own Paystack subaccount, in the name of the account holder as Paystack verifies it, paying out to the bank or mobile money account the business nominates. A booking page cannot take payments until this is done.
A customer’s payment goes to the business’s subaccount, and Paystack settles it to the business’s own account on Paystack’s settlement schedule. Our fee, when it applies, is split off by Paystack within the same payment. The money never sits in an account of ours, and we are not the merchant of record for what a business sells.
Each booking is paid in one payment: a deposit or the full price, whoever is paying. We do not take payments in instalments or split one booking across several payers.
5. Changes, cancellations and refunds
A deposit or payment made through Rillo secures the booking and is not refunded through the platform. Instead, a customer whose plans change can ask the business, before the booking starts, to move it once to another date or time, or to keep what they paid as credit for another booking with that business.
After the booking starts, or if the customer does not show up, the business decides. The deposit is not refunded.
Credit is one amount, used once, on one new booking with the same business. It lasts for the number of days the business sets, 10 unless it chooses otherwise. It is not cash, it cannot be used at another business, and a booking paid with credit cannot be turned into credit again.
We refund a payment ourselves only when the fault is ours, such as a duplicate payment caused by a technical error.
A business must make sure its customers can see these rules before they pay. Rillo shows them beside the pay button, on the confirmation page and in the confirmation email. The full rules for customers are in our Refund Policy.
6. Business accounts
Sections 6 to 12 are for businesses, and "you" in them means the business.
You must be 18 or over to open an account: doing so puts you into a commercial contract with us and lets you take payments through it. You must be authorised to act for the business you register, and the information you give us during setup must be accurate.
You are responsible for the accounts you create and for the people you invite to them. Give each member of staff their own account and the lowest level of access that lets them do their job.
Tell us promptly if you believe an account has been used by someone who should not have access to it.
7. Your data
The data you and your customers put into Rillo belongs to you. We process it in order to provide the service, and for no other purpose. What we collect and how we handle it is set out in our Privacy Policy.
You can export your data at any time while your account is active. If you close it, you can export it for at least 30 days afterwards, and we will delete it after that period unless the law requires us to keep it.
You are responsible for having a lawful basis to hold the customer information you enter, and for what you tell your customers about it.
8. Availability and support
We work to keep Rillo available at all times, but we do not promise it will never be unavailable. Maintenance that we expect to interrupt the service will be notified in advance where it is practical to do so.
Support is provided by email and, where published, by phone and WhatsApp, during our stated hours (Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm GMT). Problems that stop a business from operating are treated as urgent.
9. Tax calculations
Rillo calculates the taxes and levies that apply to your charges, using the rates and rules configured for your business, which we keep up to date to the best of our ability.
These calculations are a tool, not tax advice. You remain responsible for your own tax filings and for checking that the treatment we apply matches your circumstances. If you believe a calculation is wrong, tell us and we will investigate it promptly.
10. Acceptable use
You must not use Rillo to take payment for anything that is illegal, or that Paystack does not allow on its network.
You must not use Rillo to break the law, to store data you have no right to hold, or to send messages to people who have not agreed to receive them.
You must not attempt to gain access to another business’s data, to interfere with the service, or to reverse engineer it beyond what the law expressly permits.
11. Our responsibility to you
We will provide the service with reasonable skill and care. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Subject to that, our total liability to you in any 12 month period is limited to the platform fees you paid us in that period, and we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business or indirect loss.
You are responsible for keeping your own records to the extent the law requires. Rillo is designed to make that easier, not to replace your obligation to do it.
12. Ending the agreement
You may close your account at any time. Because there is no subscription and nothing is ever paid to us in advance, there is nothing to refund when you do: closing your account simply stops future platform fees.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms in a way that is serious or that you do not fix after we have asked you to. Except where the breach makes it impossible, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.
Ending the agreement does not affect anything either of us already owes the other.
13. Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of Ghana, and the courts of Ghana have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will tell businesses at least 30 days before it takes effect, and continuing to use Rillo after that date means accepting it. The date at the top of this page is when they last changed.
